This is Terri Belk, a classmate and friend of Kerstin Dorsia_s. The two met in an English course at Santa Monica College. When I last photographed Kerstin, I asked her if she knew any attractive girls that would also be interested in Zishy. Almost instantly, Terri came to mind and I was glad I asked. Terri is 19, tall, quirky and full of youthful energy. I was lucky enough to photograph her at the home that she grew up in. I took these photos of Sydney Hallek at a time while I was thoroughly inspired by Terry Richardson_s coffee table photo book, Terryworld. I found it in a clearance stack for $10 at Barnes and Noble. The book is filled with photos of sexual indulgence, depravity, and oddity. To me, it conveyed the wild essence of freedom and the lengths that an artist will go to for his work. One could argue that Terryworld is just aimed at shock appeal, but I view the book as a middle finger to conformity, which I have always been a sucker for. But I digress. Sydney was fun to shoot and even demonstrated her dubstep dance moves. If you have ever seen a pretty girl dance to this music before, you will agree that you do not need to see it twice. Dubstep fail, just my prerogative.

Lyndie Brittain returns starting with some lost images in that yellow bodysuit. The truth is that I have permanently lost sets of photos in the past. And when that happens, it bums me out like no other. So you might imagine how it feels when I find something that I thought was a goner. From my prior work with Lyndie, I managed to get a gig shooting her for a whiskey brand. I_ll share those with you eventually. I don_t think the company loved my performance, but luckily my livelihood does not depend on my ability to please a marketing department. Even though I did feel slightly icky afterwards, they paid well and I received two complimentary cases of tasty whiskey. Great for re-gifting to the family and friends.

You know its getting bad when you have to refrigerate your pool water, otherwise it just feels like a warm bath. That is exactly how hot it gets in Palm Springs. Just the same, I love the vibe of the town. It is artsy, chill, open-minded, and really freakin_ hot. All those adjectives can also be applied to Piper Candless. I know some of you might not approve of her tats. I can_t say I have ever been a huge proponent of ink. But I think my biggest beef with body art has been with what it used to represent. Tattoos were only supposed to be for sailors, gangsters, convicts, and other hard-ass mother fuckers. Now, body art just stands for body art. To each their own. If you knew Piper, I have a feeling that you would agree--they fit her personality perfectly.

Every now and then, I unload a bouquet of images that have slipped into the deep crevasses of my hard drive. You can think of it as Spring cleaning. She has a rather serious personality and does not wear her emotions on her sleeve. We took these at a house in Burbank where she was staying. An Indian Summer is when Summer weather unexpectedly returns in the middle of the FallWinter seasons. When Nina invited the photographer over to her apartment, she made sure that her boyfriend would be at work. She had a feeling that the BF would not approve of the racy photos that Nina intended to take. The photographer had barely put her into a second outfit, which was one of the most revealing from her own closet, when Nina heard the door open and someone walk in. Honey, what are you doing home? Yes, it was the BF returning several hours early from work. Awkward introductions followed. The BF fell silent and tension filled the small apartment. Nina_s attempts at humor in order to deflect the situation failed miserably. The BF grew sulky and visibly irritated. The photo shoot was over. Nina, trembling, threw clothes on to cover the skimpy lingerie and said goodbye to the photographer. She assured him that they could finish the shoot in a couple of days. The photographer knew he would never hear from Nina again.

Gene_s regular style is more refined and posed, but he was also willing to try new things. He took Darya Nosenko out on the streets early in the morning and captured some daring nude images. This visit to Arizona State University with Monica Horne made me reminiscent of my old college days. Even then, I was in constant wonder at all the beautiful women walking to and from class. One particular girl that I always crossed paths with after Econ 101 had me especially enthralled. Her smooth curves and flawless complexion, after many years, are still burnt into my memory. One day, out of the blue, I walked up to this stranger and paid her the best compliment I could think of. She smiled and I asked her on a date. She said yes.
I eventually blew the opportunity, perhaps because I was too eager or too clueless, but I still learned a valuable lesson: the fear of failure is often worse than actual failure.
